The WHOIS lookup at camcore.au/domains/whois shows the public record for any domain: who it is registered through, what state it is in and where its DNS points. The answer comes straight from the registry for that ending, using its RDAP service (the modern replacement for WHOIS).
Look up a domain
- Open camcore.au/domains/whois.
- Enter the domain, such as yourbusiness.com.au, and choose Look up.
- The result shows under the search. The page address now includes the domain, so you can share it.
You can look up .au, .com, .net, .org and most other endings.
What the result means
| Part | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Registrar | The company the domain is registered through. CamCore domains show Synergy Wholesale, CamCore's registrar partner. |
| Status | Locks and stages, in plain English. Transfer locked and Protected from deletion are normal. Redemption period or Pending deletion mean the domain has expired. |
| Registered, Expires, Last changed | The dates the registry publishes. The .au registry doesn't publish registration or expiry dates, so .au names say Not published by the registry. |
| Nameservers | Where the domain's DNS records are kept. CamCore DNS shows acrux, mimosa and gacrux.camcore.au. |
| DNSSEC | Whether the domain's DNS answers are signed. See DNSSEC for your domain. |
| Eligibility | For .au names, the kind of holder the licence was granted to, such as Company or Sole Trader. |
If the result says Not registered, no one holds the name. Search for it on CamCore Domains to register it.
For a .au name, Not yet in its renewal window is normal: a .au domain can only be renewed in the 90 days before it expires.
What isn't shown
Registries no longer publish holders' addresses, phone numbers or emails. The .au registry does publish the holder's name and ABN or ACN; CamCore's lookup leaves them out, but the .au registry's own lookup shows them.
To contact a domain's holder, ask the registrar shown: they can pass a message on.
Privacy
Nothing you look up is kept. CamCore remembers a result for ten minutes so repeated lookups don't hit the registry, and limits how many lookups can be made a minute.
